The JOEY extension (coming soon)

JOEY Virtual Machine is the mode of operation available today. This extension is coming soon and is not selectable yet. Here is what it will do once it launches.

The JOEY extension will run in Chrome, on your own computer. It will read your DriveCentric conversations and works your CRM the way you would, drafting texts, emails, and follow-ups right where you already work. It takes about two minutes to set up. It talks only to JOEY, and it never changes anything else on the page. Sending is under your control: JOEY only works while you start it, and every message is re-checked against your suppression and do-not-contact lists before it goes out. If you want to approve each message yourself first, turn on Draft only in the JOEY popup and nothing sends without your approval.

What the extension does

JOEY watches your DriveCentric conversations and prepares personalized drafts, a call script, a text, and an email, for each lead, right inside the CRM tab you already have open. It runs entirely on your machine, inside Chrome. It does not require its own separate window and does not need you to change how you work.

What you need

  • Google Chrome, or another Chromium-based browser that supports Chrome extensions.
  • A DriveCentric account you are already signed into in that browser.
  • A JOEY account (sign up first if you have not already).

Coming soon

  1. Download the extension

Grab the latest build below. It downloads as a .zip file. You do not need to unzip it into any special place, just remember where it saved (usually your Downloads folder).

  2. Unzip it

Double-click the .zip to expand it into a folder named joey-extension. Keep that folder somewhere you will not delete it, Chrome loads the extension from this folder.

  3. Open Chrome extensions

In Chrome, go to chrome://extensions (paste that into the address bar). Turn on Developer mode with the toggle in the top right.

  4. Load it

Click "Load unpacked", then select the joey-extension folder you just unzipped. JOEY appears in your extensions list. Click the puzzle-piece icon and pin JOEY so it is always one click away.

Connect your device

One step links the extension to your JOEY account. It only takes a moment.

  • One click, on this browser. Go to your JOEY dashboard, open Settings, then JOEY Extension, and click "Connect this browser automatically." JOEY links this browser to your account, no code to copy or paste.
  • Connecting a second browser. Setting up JOEY on a different computer or browser? Generate a one-time code from that same Settings section, then open the JOEY extension on the other browser and enter the code there. The code expires in 15 minutes and works once.
  • One device at a time. JOEY runs on one browser at a time. Connecting a new browser signs JOEY out of any other browser it was running on, so you never have JOEY working two places at once.

Day to day use

  • JOEY runs while Chrome is open. Since the extension runs inside your browser, JOEY works whenever Chrome is open on the device it is connected to. Closing Chrome, or the browser going to sleep, pauses JOEY until you reopen it.
  • Draft first, you send. JOEY prepares a draft, a call script, a text, or an email, personalized to that customer and vehicle. You review and send. JOEY does not send anything to a customer on its own.
  • Pause or stop any time. Use the Active / Paused switch on your dashboard to pause JOEY instantly, then resume when you are ready. Closing Chrome or disabling the extension in chrome://extensions also stops it working on that device.
  • Coworker notes and suppression are automatic. If a coworker has already left a note taking over a conversation, or a customer has opted out, JOEY skips that conversation on its own. You do not have to flag it, tell JOEY, or change any setting.

What the status means

  • ConnectedInstalled and enrolled. You are good to go.
  • Installed, not connectedThe extension is installed but not enrolled yet. Open your JOEY settings and connect this browser.
  • Not installedWe do not see the extension on this device. Download it above and load it in Chrome.

Troubleshooting

  • Use the Retry buttonThe Extension card on your dashboard and Settings page checks your live connection status. If it looks stale, or you just finished installing, click Retry to re-check right away.
  • Switching machines? Generate a fresh codeMoving to a new computer or a different browser? Generate a new one-time code from Settings and paste it into the JOEY extension on that device. Your old browser is signed out automatically the moment the new one connects, that is expected, not an error.
  • What "Connected v.x" meansThe version number next to Connected is the build of the extension installed on this device. If it does not match the latest version, download the current build and reload the extension from chrome://extensions.
  • It shows disconnected or not installedOpen chrome://extensions and confirm Developer mode is on and JOEY is enabled (not greyed out). Click Retry on the Extension card. Still stuck? Go to Settings and click "Connect this browser automatically" again.

Your privacy

The extension does not need or store your DriveCentric password, it works inside the browser session you are already signed into. The one-time codes used to connect a device expire in 15 minutes and can only be used once. Your device connection is never stored as plain text. The extension talks only to JOEY, never sends analytics anywhere else, and never changes anything else on the page.

Prefer JOEY hosted for you instead? See the JOEY Virtual Machine guide. Still stuck with the extension? Head back to your dashboard and use Retry on the Extension card, or reach us from the Help center.
